Dental Implants cost

The cost of implants in Tirana varies from €300 – €1200. Why this difference? What factors make the difference in cost? In this article we will try to explain this difference.

1- Dental Implant brand

There are hundreds of companies that produce Dental implants today. The most reputable ones among them have many years of experience in the field. They conduct ongoing scientific study to enhance the techniques for implant placement, and invest in various technologies to create various instruments to help dentist manage a range of simple to complex situations. Of course dental implant brands that offer more options in terms of quality and expertise will cost more in comparison to brands that are not as advanced in these fields. The more popular the brand the bigger the price tag.

However paying for the brand will not necessary give you better results. Even less popular brands can give you the same results as long as they are certified, sterilised according to industry regulations and follow a good packaging protocol. Depending on the specifics of your mouth, bone quality, position of the needed implants, a dentist may chose one brand over another. Sometimes the dentist is more familiar with one implant over another one but this is not to say that one is better than the other.  Our suggestion is to chose a certified brand that accomodates your budget.

2- Dental implant crown placement

Once the implant has been inserted into your bone, a 4 to 6 months waiting time is required for its integration. After this period the dentist will perform a minor incision to expose the implant following a healing cap to permit a healing around implant gums. It could take anywhere from 7 to 15 days for the gums to heal properly, at this point an impression is taken to fabricate the dental implant crown.

Screw retained vs cemented dental implant crown

In order for the zirconia crown to be connected to the implant there are two variations of connectors. One is regular abutment which is screwed first into the implant and then the zirconia crown is cemented directly into your mouth, and the other system is what is called a screw retained system which is cemented outside of your mouth and is only screwed into your mouth.

Screw retained crowns are more hygienic, are retrievable at any time without having to ruin your crown in case the dentist needs to clean the implant and generally are preferred by most dentists.

3 - GBR bone regeneration procedure

GBR or Growth bone regenerative procedure is the process of helping your body grow more bone in a specific area where needed especially right after tooth extraction. A powder like material is placed inside the bone socket and the extraction site is then closed with sutures. This procedure typically takes 3 to 6 months to be completed depending on the situation. The cost of the GBR grafting depends on the quantity of bone required as the material typically has a relatively high cost.

4 - Implant dentist

Because there are variations in implant placement cases, the expertise and experience of the operator executing the intervention is crucial. Undoubtedly, a dentist with experience in this area may charge more.

Aesthetic dental crowns

In recent years, there has been a significant evolution in the dental materials used in dental crown fabrication. The use of 3D tools and scanners frequently streamlines and improves the accuracy of laboratory operations. However certain aspects of the dental implant procedures are unreplaceable by technology, no matter how advanced dental technology is.

Patients frequently complain that their teeth are lifeless, not natural looking or to fake. Production of natural beautiful teeth is an art and as in every othe rprofession some dental technicians possess better skills in creating this art. Typically the best dental crown quality is achieved by working with the best materials and placing the colors and shapes in the right order. This is a handmade task that not all dental technicians posses.

6 - Low cost dental clinics in Tirana and dental tourism

Albanie: A Hidden Gem in the Balkans

Albania, known for its stunning landscapes and rich history, is emerging as a surprising hotspot for dental tourism. Offering a unique blend of high-quality dental services at significantly lower prices compared to Western Europe and North America, this Balkan nation is drawing international visitors not just for its beauty, but for its dental clinics as well.

Affordable Excellence

Dental tourism in Albania is booming in the last few years. One of the most compelling reasons to consider Albania for dental work is the cost-effectiveness of its services. Dental procedures in Albania can cost up to 70% less than what you would expect to pay in the U.S. or UK, without compromising on quality. This includes a range of treatments from basic dental care and cosmetic dentistry to more complex procedures like implants and orthodontics.

Quality of Care

Albanian dental clinics are known for their high standards of care. Many dentists in Albania have trained internationally, bringing a wealth of experience and advanced techniques back to their home country. Clinics are well-equipped with the latest dental technology, similar to what you would find in more recognized Western facilities. Furthermore, the stringent healthcare regulations ensure that these clinics maintain excellent hygiene standards.

Language and Communication

Communication is a key concern for many when considering dental care abroad. In Albania, many dental professionals are multilingual, with a good command of English, Italian, and other European languages, making it easier for tourists to communicate effectively and feel at ease during their treatments.
